Labor Cost

Plan the schedule with its cost in view.

Compare planned and recorded labor cost, follow labor as a share of sales, and review staffing by role and time. Calculations use the pay rates, employer costs and applicable rules configured for your restaurant.

How many people do we need at each hour?

Review staffing needs by role and time window using your operating rules, demand from comparable weekdays and recorded future orders. See the historical basis and remaining gaps before you publish the schedule.

How is today shaping up?

Check labor cost against sales, sales per labor hour and an estimate for the end of the day. Missing information and shifts left open are flagged, keeping recorded figures distinct from projections.

Before you publish next week’s restaurant schedule

Choose the week, review availability and time-off requests, and compare required coverage with assigned staff by role and hour. Check planned cost and remaining gaps, paying attention to days with little history. After you adjust and publish, employees see their shifts in Jooule Team.

Questions we hear

How is restaurant labor cost calculated?

Jooule uses effective-dated pay cards, hourly or monthly rates, job-specific rates and configured employer costs. Reports distinguish planned work from recorded time, with wage details limited by role and permission.

Can we see cost before publishing a schedule?

Yes. Review planned cost and staffing coverage in the roster, identify gaps and adjust assignments before publication. Employees see the schedule you have published.

How accurate are staffing recommendations?

Guidance depends on your configured rules and available restaurant data. Jooule shows its historical basis and low-data states. It supports a manager’s judgment; it does not promise seasonal or weather forecasting, or a guaranteed headcount for every shift.

Does this produce payslips or pay employees?

The module calculates configured labor costs and supports export data. It is not a payroll filing, payslip or salary-payment service. Review applicable rules and exported figures with your payroll professional.

Can every manager see employee pay?

No. Amounts and wage details depend on the user’s role and permissions. Labor Cost must be enabled for the restaurant; access to scheduling does not itself grant access to every wage detail.

What you can do

Explore all features

Planned and actual labor cost

Compare the schedule with recorded work by day and job, including labor cost as a share of sales.

Requires the Labor module. Cost visibility follows permissions; missing rates remain unknown rather than zero.

Rates and employer costs

Keep dated hourly, monthly and job-specific rates, with employer costs included in supported labor calculations.

Supported country rules and configured inputs determine estimates. This is not payroll payment, filing or a payslip service.

Labor during the shift

Follow labor as a share of today’s sales, sales per labor hour and an estimate for the rest of the scheduled day.

The remaining-day estimate uses the schedule and comparable weekday history. Missing data and stale open shifts can limit the estimate.

Plan coverage by role and time

Compare scheduled staff with role rules, past weekday demand and booked orders, then act on uncovered periods.

Requires the Labor module and role rules. History and booked orders inform coverage; this is not seasonal or weather-based AI forecasting.
